    תקציר הסרטון

The impossible collision between the corrupt world of 1980s New York banking and the awkward British surrealism of the early 2000s creates an extraordinary cinematic-cultural moment. At the heart of this creative mashup stands Patrick Bateman, the narcissistic protagonist of the masterpiece *American Psycho*, as he swaps his polished pop analyses of Huey Lewis or Phil Collins for the experimental, amateurish sounds of Jeremy "Jez" Osborne from the British cult series *Peep Show*. The contrast between Bateman’s cold precision and sterile aesthetics and Jez's chaotic, rhythm-less "music" produces a dark comedic effect that exposes the absurdity of both characters. Jeremy Osborne, portrayed by Robert Webb, represents the absolute antithesis of the American Yuppie; while Bateman is obsessed with status, excellence, and outward perfection, Jez is a failed musician and chronic slacker living in a world of delusions regarding his artistic talent. His music—characterized by grating sounds, inconsistent beats, and nonsensical lyrics—becomes the subject of Bateman’s meticulous scrutiny in this fusion. This editing technique sheds new light on the famous monologue scene, blending the inherent madness of predatory capitalism with the absurdity of British "loser" culture. Beyond its entertainment value, the mashup touches on a deeper point regarding the perception of art and identity. In *American Psycho*, music serves Bateman as a tool to establish intellectual superiority and to frame his atrocities, whereas in *Peep Show*, music is an escape from a bleak reality for a character unable to integrate into society. The connection between Manhattan’s urban alienation and Croydon’s social awkwardness creates a cognitive dissonance that highlights how easily a cinematic narrative can be manipulated through soundtrack alone, making the viewer a partner in a moment of pure, distilled comedic horror.
